We are proud and excited to announce the arrival of the latest CAD/CAM technology to our (your!) Dental Practice.

The Trios colour digital oral scanner marks another super breakthrough in making dentistry simpler and painless for our Patients.

We thought our Cerec Computerised System was great but this Trios Scanner allows us to achieve much more for our patients; easier to use and faster results. The Trios Scanner takes very detailed images of your mouth and, in a matter of minutes, can produce highly accurate 3D virtual models of your teeth on the computer screen. These virtual models are all we need to make a variety of dental appliances for you - crowns, bridges, sports mouth guards, bite splints and dentures - ready to fit at your next appointment.

It is much easier and comfortable for ourpatients to have the thin scanner probe momentarily, placed in your mouth than the traditional messy impression materials. It is actually very comfortable and interesting to have your teeth scanned, by this device.   Watch the following video of a dentist scanning his own mouth -

The Trios Scanner records your Occlusion: how your upper and lower teeth meet and bite. It also measures the shade of your teeth to help ensure the best colour match for your new restorations. Ceramic inlays and onlays can be made, instead of the usual metal or composite fillings, restoring your teeth for longer lasting and superior aesthetic results. This technology can also be used for orthodontic appliances.

We no longer need to take impressions of the mouth for the majority of restorations. The “virtual information” is transferred electronically to the Specialised Dental Laboratory that we use. The technicians there, can then design and manufacture individual restorations, to a new level of quality and precision fit and with a faster turn around time between our practice and laboratory, than was ever possible before.

It is a large financial investment for our practice but we make this because we wish our patients to benefit from the latest worthwhile advances in dentistry.

Coronavirus Phase 3 - Monday 13th July 2020

Back to Work!

The Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, stated that Dentists can go back to providing Routine Dentistry, from Monday 13th July 2020, except for doing Aerosol Generating Procedures (AGP’s). This statement actually relates to NHS Dentistry as the personal protective equipment necessary to protect Dental staff and their patients against Covid-19 is expensive.

PPE Extra Charges

Some Dental Practices intend to charge extra for PPE and/or raise their dental fees.
The James LR O’Donnell Practice will be celebrating 50 years since opening in November, 1971.
We have many patients who have been coming to us for decades.
We feel this loyalty to us deserves to be acknowledged.

Thus, we do not plan to charge for the extra PPE necessary for treating patients during this Covid Crisis. And for our Dental Plan patients, we have cancelled the planned increase in our Plan fees (due April 2020 for DPAS, and January 2021 for Denplan).

Keeping you safe with the return to Dentistry

After many months of lockdown, and despite the extra measures we have to take to protect you and us, we are most definitely looking forward to seeing you all again.
